 ENVIRONMENT

We are frequently asked ‘what percentage of your products can be recycled? While many manufacturers give a very precise numerical answer to this apparently simple question we hesitate. Does the percentage apply to the number or volume of components, to the weight of them or as a percentage of the value of the whole unit? However like all good manufacturers we do care about our environment and the following facts may be useful.

Most of our components are delivered to us with an element of packaging to protect them in transit. Where possible we use returnable metal cages and we reuse wooden pallets. Cardboard boxes and the like are flattened and collected in a dedicated skip for recycling by an outsourced contractor.
Many of our components are made from metal, either mild steel pressings or aluminium castings. These can of course be recycled in the traditional way and we ensure that all faulty, damaged or waste metal at our own factory is recycled.
We use wooden seats and shells in some of our products. These are all sourced from reputable companies that only use wood that is guaranteed to originate from sustainable European sources.
There are plastic components that are manufactured by injection molding from nylon, polycarbonate or a combination of substrates. These can be ground down and reused for other molded products.
All our chairs contain foam. Waste from the cutting of foam in the manufacture is chipped and reused as a category of foam called crumble and all the foam we use can be recycled.
Our chairs are upholstered in a variety of fabrics most of which are a combination of wool, Polyamide or Polyester. The larger off cuts we bag and distribute to a local council where they are given to schools for handicraft projects.
Our adhesives used in the production process are non-solvent water based for the protection of our staff and for environmental reasons.
At the end of the manufacturing process our chairs are distributed in cardboard boxes that are manufactured from 80% recycled paper/card waste.
